Mingo Falls is a 120-foot-tall waterfall located in the Smoky Mountain region and is one of the tallest waterfalls in North Carolina. Featuring a short but steep climb, Mingo Falls is an absolute must-see if you're visiting the mountainous region of NC.

Getting to the waterfall Getting to Mingo Falls is a short 0.3-mile-long climb; however, it is rather steep, having over 150 wooden stairs from the start of the parking lot. Climbing from the parking lot to the waterfall will take around 5-10 minutes. Once you've climbed the stairs and made it to the top, the trail will level out to a viewing area where you can see the waterfall. Mingo Falls is a stunning view, and we highly recommend visiting it if you're in the area. Make sure to visit early if you want to beat the crowd.

Rules and details

Mingo Falls is free and does not require a Great Smokey Mountains National Park parking pass to visit. Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash at all times. Note that due to popularity, spots will fill up fast, and there are limited portable toilets in the parking lot.
