We really enjoyed playing disc golf at Owen's Park. We'd like to tell you why we enjoyed this park so much. First, this course stands out when it comes to layout. When looking for courses in North Carolina, you'll find that a large majority of them are in heavily wooded areas. This can make the course much harder to play and navigate, which can be annoying for casual players. This is one of the reasons why we enjoyed Owen's Park: because it was not heavily forested. For more casual players like us, we liked the fact that the park was generally open. The course was mostly flat, meaning your shots were more centered around calculating distance over avoiding trees.

Course details about Owen's Park Disc Golf Course

Before going to this course, it's important to know details about the park and course. First, Owen's Park offers an 18-hole course and over two miles of park to play at. Owen's Park uses turf pads to tee off from. Depending on your overall skill at disc golf, you can select which of the three distances you'd like to start from. Blue is the furthest from the hole, followed by white (middle) and then red (closest). If you'd like to find information on the park layout and distances, we made sure to put an image towards the end of the blog. In the image you will be able to find the rules and the three colors. Lastly, the best part about Owen's Park is that it's completely free to play! You won't need to pay an entrance fee to get into the park.

If you don't enjoy disc golf or want to make it an all-day activity, there are other things to do than disc golf at Owen's Park. Located right by the start of the course, Owen's Park offers a great pond for fishing, which has become a popular spot for fishers. Other than fishing, Owen's Park has 3k and 5k hiking trails. In conclusion, whether you want to fish, disc golf, hike, or maybe even fly a kite, Owen's Park hosts a large variety of options.

What to bring:

If you're thinking of going to Owen's Park to play some disc golf, we have a few recommendations on what to bring. Here is a list of some basic things that would make your trip more enjoyable

• Discs (Obviously, but a basic distance driver, mid-range disc, and a putter will do!)

• Water (The park is around 2 miles so come prepared)

• Sunscreen (While some shade is around the course, some parts are still open.) We recommend applying sunscreen so you don't get burnt.

• A light snack: (Playing disc golf and retrieving all those disks can burn energy. Bring a light snack so you don't get hungry!)

• A backpack: (Bringing a bag to carry your disks and all the stuff you brought help free your hands.)
